Are the dice "free" in the dock, or are they tight in place? I mean, if we pick up the Dicedock, will the dice remain on the table, so we need to slide the Dicedock to have the dice stay in place? Or we can pick up the Dicedock and the dice go up with it?

They are free. It would be hard to remove them if it was a tight fit. Also depends on how good your dice are. Cheap dice might not be exactly 5mm. They are designed to be slid with the token on top. Of course a small bit of thin hard clear plastic could be glued under the hole to stop them from sliding out.
